Kent Manor Inn on the Eastern Shore is such a beautiful setting for a wedding. Ann and Justin have known each other for ever. They grew up on the same street and were childhood friends. It was very fun to get to known Ann as she planned her wedding day. Every detail was well thought out and planned with the amazingly talented Michele Damon Events. Thank you for allowing me to capture your day.
What a blast I had with Mary Katherine and John. I met this sweet couple through Engaged, A Wedding Library where they entered a contest to win ME for an engagement session in Birmingham. I love when I am able to work with incredibly creative people. Mary Katherine and John LOVE vinyl. There music collection is mostly in the form of old and new records. They spend most of their free time cooking together and listening to live bands. John asked Mary Katherine to marry him at this park, by designing a record album for her saying “will you marry me”. What an awesome Day.
I had such an awesome time taking pictures with Jessica. I love when people want to surprise the ones they love with the gift of photography. Jessica & Ed were celebrating a dating anniversary and she wanted to surprise him with some pictures of herself and his dog. The two most important “people in his life”. Needless to say he loved the pictures and she surprised him well!
It was super fun to photograph this engagement session with Arrington and Clay in Birmingham. Arrington is a forth grade teacher at Grace’s school and so it was extra special to be able to photograph her and Clay. I am so sad that I am not available for her wedding date, but glad I was able to do their engagements! I had a blast with them on their bicycle built for two! Congratulations to you both!
It has been so fun to get to know Katie and Jan Moon from Dreamcakes Bakery in Homewood. When we first moved to Birmingham 6 months ago I found myself spending a lot of time in Homewood and Mountain Brook for work. Being a new wedding photographer in Birmingham, I really wanted to spend time getting to know wedding vendors in the area. My youngest daughter Abigail (4) is still at home with me and we like to go exploring together. Dreamcakes Bakery is literally the “sweetest” spot in Homewood. Dreamcakes specializes in specialty cupcakes, customized special occasion cakes and wedding cakes. The list of flavors is INCREDIBLE. They have flavors like the “plain jane”, the “maple bacon” (picture bacon dipped in maple syrup on a cupcake), the curious george (banana flavored),”over the moon”, and my new favorite (I change my mind every week) “Caramel Sea Salt Mocha”. They also offer a glueten free cupcake which has become a very popular sweet for families with allergies.
The best part about Dreamcakes has got to be the people, hands down. I have a very soft spot in my heart for family run businesses and Katie & Jan (a mother daughter dream team) are absolutely the best. Abigail and I made frequent stops at the “tuptake” shop while in Homewood and got to meet Katie during a television interview that ABC was doing during one of our many visits. You can see Abigail and I being interviewed here. It wasn’t long after meeting that I started to work on a special project for them, taking photographs of the cupcakes, the store, the merchandise and my favorite part THE PEOPLE. I loved being in the bakery and photographing this team in action. They laugh a LOT and keep things moving at a fast pace, while taking extra note of all the intricate details that go into each and every specialty cake.
If you have been living under a rock and have never heard of Dreamcakes until now, you must drive to Homewood tomorrow and grab yourself a cupcake (or 12), but go early because these things are fresh and they sell fast!
Until then, enjoy a handful of my favorites…

Don’t you just want to eat this straight from the bowl?
Jan and Katie working on a cake.
I wish I could make a cake look this smooth.
Get the gear! Yum.
My new favorite cupcake. Seriously just looking at this photo makes my mouth water. A S’more cupcake. Seriously people? Get in my BELLY. The store is always packed so you better go quickly!
I was thrilled when the talented graphic designer Holly Hollon asked my to collaborate with her on a project called “Real Cover Girls, the Heart of the Issue”. A spring runway show by MACY’s with speaker Elizabeth Ellerbee addressing issues around “REAL” (Relentless, Essential, Ageless Lifestyle) Beauty. This is the final promo piece that came out of our fun shoot. I loved working on this project. Be sure to come March 29, 2012 at Briarwood Presbyterian Church to check out this FREE event.
I had a blast photographing the Engaged Wedding Library Flower Show a few months ago. We had such talented florists come out for the show such as Carol Riley from Lillies, and Andy from KG Designs, Bloom, Nortons and Dorthy McDaniel from the Floral Market. Thank you for making this event so beautiful!
What an amazing opportunity to photograph one of the most amazing restaurants in Alabama, the Springhouse. I was thrilled when SHOP280 Magazine called to ask if I would photograph a food review they were doing on the famous restaurant. Chef Rob McDaniel was part of the amazing team that won Iron Chef and the Springhouse is where his heart and soul is. After sitting through a 5 course meal, I now see why they won. The food was delicious, organic and they atmosphere was divine. It was a royal treat to dine with the creator of the hand made pottery that Springhouse uses for their dining services, Earthborn Pottery. Please enjoy a few of my favorite images from the event.
After our meal we were able to tour the grounds with Rob and I couldn’t help but envision a beautiful bride and groom having a wedding at the Springhouse on Lake Martin. Sign me up. Thank you again Rob for the incredible meal and for pouring your heart and soul into this fine dining establishment.
Since I have just recently opened an office in Birmingham Alabama, it has been such a joy getting to know the local vendors in the area. When researching good wedding photographers in the Birmingham area, I would frequently land on a website called The Perfect Wedding Guide. It is a stress free environment where you can go an review local wedding vendors work. They have resources information on Photographers, Planners, Invitation Specialists, DJ’s, Wedding Dresses, you name it they can tell you about all things weddings in the Birmingham Area.
As of mid January, Stacy Richardson Photography is now a part of the Engaged Family and will be highlighted in their next publication. I wanted to highlight a few images from the store. What a fun treat to be able to photograph this sweet little bundle of joy. I wouldn’t classify myself as a newborn photographer, but I do enjoy the opportunity to photograph them when I am able. I absolutely loved that I we were able to “play” with this sweet little one. En”joy”.
